A 59-YEAR-OLD woman has tested positive to coronavirus after arriving in Darwin from overseas, bringing the total number of cases diagnosed in the NT closer to the 100 mark

A 59-YEAR-OLD woman has tested positive to coronavirus after arriving in Darwin from overseas on a repatriation flight from India on January 8.

The woman is under the care of the AUSMAT team at the NT Centre for National Resilience.

She is the second person from that flight to test positive to coronavirus, after a woman, 27, who was asymptomatic, tested positive on Saturday, January 9.

The latest positive is the 57th positive case from repatriation flights, which began on October 23 last year. The positive cases were detected from a total of 2497 tests.

The total number of cases diagnosed in the Northern Territory now stands at 94.

All cases have been related to international or interstate travel, with no cases of community transmission.
