Bikies in Australia: A short history

TWO young motorcyclists are without their bikes after exceeding the speed limit by 47km/h.

The 17 and 18-year-old men from Prospect and Dilston were caught travelling north on the Midland Highway near Perth at 127km/h.

Both were P1 licence holders and were therefore subject to a speed limit of 80km/h.

The riders were fined $989, issued six demerit points and disqualified from riding for four months.

Their Honda motorcycles have been impounded for 28 days.

The incident occurred at 1.20pm on Saturday, which quickly became a horror day for road users after three people died in vehicle crashes across the state.

Police issued a statement earlier this month warning motorcyclists not to speed after two learner riders were caught speeding at 157km/h and 129km/h.
