A CHILDCARE centre in Darwin’s northern suburbs has been broken into and trashed for the second time in a month, with the lowlife offenders making off with children’s bikes from a shed

THE Goodstart Early Learning Wulagi childcare centre in Darwin’s northern suburbs has been broken into and trashed for the second time in a month, with the lowlife offenders making off with children’s bikes from a shed.

Staff arrived on Tuesday morning to find the outside area trashed and the shed broken into and bikes stolen.

Centre assistant director Nadia Tarnoveanu said it was disappointing to see the centre broken into twice in a month.

She said the most recent event had cost the centre $1000 in lost resources and equipment.

“The parents came to help, and by 8.30pm we had everything cleaned up. Everyone was very responsive,” she said.

Despite the break in said it was comforting to see the community help them out by offering to clean up and donate supplies.

“The community was outstanding in responding to us,” she said.

Ms Tarnoveanu thanked the community for their support and help.

She said the centre was in the process of installing CCTV and security cameras through a grant.
