AN older two-storey unit block in central Palm Beach will be demolished and replaced with a luxury tower.
Developer Madrina wants to build a six-storey apartment building on a 412sq m site along the proposed light rail route.

The tower, which will sit between Gold Coast Highway and Jefferson Lane, will feature five three-bedroom units with views of the ocean.
The developer met with council planning staff on July 9 and discussed the tower’s design.
NEW TOWER LABELLED A ‘RECIPE FOR DISASTER’
“The building is intentionally oriented away from the Gold Coast Highway which contains amenity comprising elements including road traffic noise, vehicle emissions, future light rail, the western sun and visually unappealing electrical infrastructure,” a planning report to council reads.
It will feature a “skygarden” in the form of planter boxes along the building’s northern side to enhance its visual appearance.
There will be 10 resident car parking spaces.
It is one of several new towers proposed for the beachside suburb in recent years that have attracted controversy from anti-development advocates.
