A long-empty block of land next to the future route of the Gold Coast light rail is set to be transformed, with a new tower planned for the site.
Developer Barclays World Travel has filed an application to build a nine-storey tower in central Palm Beach.

The tower, planned for a 1154 sqm site, will front both the Gold Coast Highway and Jefferson Lane and will featured 38 units.
The units will include:
* Four one-bedroom units
* 29 two-bedroom apartments
* Five three-bedroom units.
The application was filed late last month and will go before council’s planning committee later this year.
