He’s caught ‘em all in Victoria now he’s flying across the world to catch the rest.
With only one year of training young Pokemon champion Kingsley Cheng is heading over to Washington DC next week to represent Australia in the Pokemon World Championship.
After finishing seventh place in the Oceania Junior competition, the seven-year-old Poké champ has earned enough points to qualify for a world invite from Pokemon International to battle it out over two action-packed days.
The tournament is a game of strategic trading and challenges between the famous Japanese anime characters and trainers, collecting points with a deck of 60 cards.
Kingsley is prepared to heat up the tournament with his favourite Pokemon, Charizard who is known to breathe fire and melt anything in sight.
The little competitor has a few tricks up his sleeve with a powerful deck in hand but is more excited to verse high ranking players from across the globe.
“I have heard the game is seriously intense but I know it will be a fun and exciting to battle as each trainer is different,” Kingsley said.

Proud Kensington mum of two Ceceilia Cheng said the game is “educational and helps with the kids social interaction.”
“I am super proud of his achievements in his first year, I didn’t think he would pick up the game so fast as you need to do a lot of strategical thinking, reading and math to play it properly,” Mrs Kheng said.
Kingsley will be flying over to the US with his mum and sister Naomi who will also be competing in the video game championship (VCG).
