St Kilda residents evacuated due to suspicious apartment fire this morning
Partially constructive townhouses in St Kilda have gone up in flames in an early morning blaze police are treating as suspicious. Residents were forced to evacuate as 28 firefighters tackled the fire.

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in St Kilda early this morning.
Firefighters were initially called to the Argyle Street construction site around 6am.
“A numbers of the partially built townhouses were damaged, police spokeswoman Leonie Johnson said.
“Police are treating the fire as suspicious.”

The MFB said several calls were received for smoke issuing from a building.
Neighbours in the properties surrounding the site were evacuated.
A house to one side of the building was threatened by the fire.
It took 28 firefighters around 45 minutes to declare the fire under control.
It is not known how much financial damage has been caused.
