The families of two men found dead at their Sale homes are grappling with the Christmas Day tragedy, trying to find answers about what led up to the double shooting.
Jake Wills, 25, was found dead in his McLachlan St driveway while Mathew Moroney, 46, was found dead just 200m away in his Dryden Pl home.
One of the men is believed to have shot the other about 9.30am on Wednesday before shooting himself but it still remains unclear what led to their violent deaths.
Loved ones paid tributes to the two deceased.
In a statement provided to the Herald Sun, Mr Moroney’s family said he was a “great man”.
“It is hard to believe that you are gone, was way too soon,” they said.
“The love you had for all us will never be forgotten. You were a great man always there for your family and friends no matter what.
“We will forever carry you in our hearts.”
Mr Moroney leaves behind at least one daughter.
A man named Brett Wills posted a tribute to Jake Wills on social media.
“RIP Jake, you were always the yin to my yang, you were the only one I could be myself around,” the tribute said.
“My heart is so broken. Miss you more than most can imagine. Love you so much.”
Friend Spencer Erickson told the Herald Sun Mr Wills was a “nice” guy who “loved his fishing”.
