Hunt for limping man who grabbed, threatened to kill schoolgirl near South Morang railway station, Mill Park
A MAN with a raspy voice and a limp threatened to kill a teenage girl, 17, after grabbing her from behind, covering her mouth and telling her to be quiet, as she walked along a bike path near a train station in Melbourne’s northeast.

A SCHOOLGIRL was assaulted by a man with a limp and a raspy voice after getting off a train in Melbourne’s northeast.
Mernda Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation team detectives are trying to solve the crime which occurred in Mill Park about 4.30pm on March 23.
The 17-year-old girl was walking west along the bike path in Border Drive near South
Morang railway station when she walked past a man who began to follow her.
After reaching an area of parkland the man grabbed the girl from behind before covering her mouth and telling her to be quiet.
The girl began to struggle and the man made threats to kill her if she did not remain quiet.
The struggle continued and the girl yelled out before the man ran off under the railway line towards Calendula Circuit.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Lee Smith said: “It is a very concerning incident.
“She told her parents the following day and police were notified.
“We don’t know what his intentions were.
“We believe he may live in the area and are hopeful somebody may recognise him and help us identify him.”
