A 39-year-old man was found shortly before midday with self-inflicted wounds.
He was taken to hospital and was expected to be questioned by homicide detectives after treatment.
The man was known to the victim.
Neighbours grieving the loss of the woman, who has teen and adult children, spoke of their shock.

“The whole community is going to feel the loss of this lady, because she was really an intricate part of Maryborough, she’d lived here all her life.”
