All charges have been dropped against a woman who was accused of leaking raunchy footage of former AFL star Dane Swan.

Georgia May Gibson was all smiles sitting in the front row when the prosecution withdrew all charges at Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

She had been facing up to two years jail after being charged with using a mobile phone to “visually capture Dane Swan in a manner upskirting” in Melbourne on June 26, 2017.

She was accused of then distributing the video.

Ms Gibson, from South Australia, did not want to make a statement as she left court a free woman.

But when pressed about wanting to share her side of the story and clear her name, she said: “The people who know me know what type of person I am.”

No reason was given to the court as to why the two charges were no longer being pursued.

Ms Gibson, 20, was charged with visually capturing genitalia and distributing an intimate image following a four-month sexting investigation by Victoria Police.

The six-second clip, alleged to have been taken during the 2017 AFL season, showed Swan attempting to cover his head as he kissed the woman while she filmed his naked body.

Swan reported the video to police after it surfaced on social media in May last year.

The 2011 Brownlow medallist spoke out at the time declaring it was a “gross breach” of his privacy.

“It was taken and distributed without my consent,” he said.

At a hearing last month, defence lawyer Dee Giannopoulos said Ms Gibson would be fighting the charges.

“The issue is around consent,” Ms Giannopoulos said.

Ms Gibson was charged after Swan reported the matter to police, begging officers to stop it being spread further after the clip started doing the rounds on social media and via text message.

At the time of the video surfacing Swan, who has been in a relationship with his partner Taylor Wilson for almost 10 years, denied the video was a sex tape.

“Although the video was taken a long time ago, it has been posted and distributed only recently. It was taken and distributed without my consent,” Swan, who retired in 2016, said.

“The distribution is a gross breach of my privacy.”

An embarrassed Swan personally contacted Twitter users at the time who were spreading the video’s images and threatened legal action and to call police unless they removed the X-rated material from their Twitter feeds.
