Gloria Jean’s employee Georgia, who witnessed the brawl, said two people were having coffee when another group emerged and began arguing.

“There were maybe 10 or 12 in total,” she said.

“They went at each other for about four minutes.”

It is not yet clear what sparked the brawl.

The fight then spilt into the middle of a busy shopping thoroughfare.

“It was disgusting. They picked up anything they could get their hands on for the fight,” Georgia said.

Police and shopping security officers eventually intervened and broke up the brawling groups.

Police spokeswoman Alex Day said officers were called to reports of a brawl at the Pascoe Vale Rd shopping centre about 4.10pm.

“It’s understood two groups of young men were fighting inside the centre,” Ms Day said.

“Police have been told one of the men sustained possible facial injuries.”

Detectives have collected witness accounts and CCTV footage, which is believed to show clear images of those involved.

Another witness said the shopping centre frequently saw this kind of behaviour.

“This isn’t uncommon. Kids come in here looking for fights,” the witness said.

“We’re used to it now.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
