Queensland Police Detective Inspector Paul Dalton said the theft of the white Mazda 3 sedan from the open garage of a Stringybark Dr, Molendinar home on Thursday afternoon with baby “Jordan” inside would have been “terrifying”.

Alleged cop puncher denies protest involvement

A NSW business owner accused of punching a cop to the head during Covid protests claims he wasn’t actually involved in the demonstration but was visiting his mum, a court has heard.

Lee James Mclean, 39, is charged with two counts of serious assault of a police officer causing bodily harm after an altercation at Sunday’s protest at Coolangatta.

About 100 people gathered at the border – the second demonstration in as many weeks – in protest of Covid-19 border lockdowns.

A YOUNG father who suffers from a “serious” workplace injury has avoided actual custody after stabbing a man in a fight that was sparked over fishing.

Jai Nicholas Davis, a recovering drug addict who assists as a “buddy” in the Australian Anti-Ice Campaign, appeared in Southport District Court on Monday after pleading guilty to unlawful wounding.

The court was told Davis, 26, was fishing on Tallebudgera Creek Bridge on January 6, 2020 when a passing 43-year-old skateboarder – who had consumed about 14 beers – made a comment about fishing.

Teen carjacks Uber

A SERIAL teen offender carjacked an Uber driver and ran him down as he tried to foil the crime.

The 16-year-old told police he only stole the vehicle so that he could drive home – even though his mother was coming to get him.

The boy, who cannot be named as he is a juvenile, pleaded guilty in Southport Children’s Court on Tuesday to unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful entry of vehicle to commit an indictable offence.

Sex toy haul in Coast dad’s ‘Aladdin’s cave’ of stolen goods

A MAN stored a large amount of sex toys at his home – among other items in an “Aladdin’s cave” of stolen goods – in exchange for cash, a court has heard.

Dylan Edward Nikeller, 32, pleaded guilty in Southport Magistrates Court to 20 property and drug offences, including two counts of enter premise to commit indictable offence, which occurred from August to December last year.

The court was told he stored stolen property – taken by other thieves – at his address in exchange for money as he spiralled into drug use.

Richard Messines Reedy was due to get his driver’s license back on Wednesday after being disqualified for losing his demerit points.

Instead he will now have to wait another six months after pleading guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday to driving without a licence.

During a frightening exchange, a court heard he told them: “If you love something, let it go and if it doesn’t come back, hunt it down.”

Killer hit-run driver Puneet Puneet has surrendered to authorities in India.

The move came weeks after a court in that country green-lit the extradition to Australia of Puneet, 13 years after he killed a young student in Melbourne.

Puneet turned fugitive in 2009 after he crashed into Gold Coast man Dean Hofstee on City Rd, Melbourne.
