They might have been the smallest contingent of the lot, but Team NT put up a hell of a fight earlier this month at the 2025 Judo Australia National Championships.
On the sunny shores of the Gold Coast, the players from Judo NT showed up, playing themselves to a total of 11 medals, to finish sixth overall in the standings – besting the far larger ACT and South Australia.
Bagging four gold, two silver and five bronze medals across junior, senior and veteran grades, Team NT’s head coach Teagan Rogers heaped praise on her team.
“The NT was the smallest state representation, but we consider ourselves small but mighty,” she said.
“The grit and determination presented on the mat by our athletes was noted by all.
“It takes great courage and strength to step onto the mat at this level and not one athlete backed down from the challenge.
The athletes have trained hard over the last 12 months and this was demonstrated on the mat.
“For our small team our medal conversion was solid.”
Rogers also highlighted the achievement of Territory star Alannah Joyce who won two gold medals in both the senior and junior class at the titles.
“Alannah’s performance was a stellar representation of what the NT team can bring,”
“She’s a great role model of what you can achieve with hard work and dedication.
“She fought hard and dominated the mat to take two golds.”
