The Darwin Brothers piled on the points against South Darwin in a round they had dedicated to a special foundation, while Litchfield’s young guns stood out on their home track.

The second-placed Brothers were the heavy favourites against the Rabbitohs in Round 9, but their thoughts were on making a mark for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.

At just 10 weeks old Moses Wigness Jr, the son of club life member Moses Wigness, was diagnosed with a life-threatening congenital heart defect but a donated incubator helped save his life.

Now at six-years-old he was able to run on and take the opening kick-off for the club he adores, and his the A-Grade side rose to the occasion winning 80-6.

The Brothers women also marked the round remaining undefeated beating Souths 84-0 with Jacinda Summers scoring a hat trick and Kel Nona scoring twice to bring her season tally to 20.

Dallas Caulton was the star of the show in the men’s game kicking 12 from 14 conversions and scoring two tries himself for a total of 32 individual points.

The usual standouts rose to the occasion as well with Caleb Niki the first to cross line after brushing off a few tacklers about the seven minute mark.

Kyro AhMat and Elijah Coombes were particularly strong in the carry while Tame Tupou, Connor Williams and Jarrod Northam contributed more than a couple big runs.

Skipper Aaron Kurnoth worked brilliantly in tandem with his support runners bringing them in with his passing game applying constant pressure on the South Darwin defence.

The Rabbitohs woes continued as they continue to search for their first win of the season, but with only five of the same players from the previous round it was always going to be an uphill battle.

Veteran Francis Wapau was sought for to bring his experience and he was the one to create the only score with a chip over the top that Oliver Dawson dotted down.

But the momentum didn’t stay their way the tries kept coming whether from Mikaele Vateitei, who scored a brace on the wing, or from strong carries through the middle.

‘It’s a good feeling coming off a game like that, we played for a really good cause in the Humpty Dumpty Foundation,” Caulton said.

“We’ve got a little fella who ran on with us who at 10 weeks had to be flown to Adelaide for a heart operation and to see him running around now as he is brings a lot of joy to the club.

“It’s amazing how our seniors get around our juniors and set an example for the younger generation, they’re very good role models for them.

“It was a good day for me, kicking goals and scoring tries, it’s a really good feeling to manage that, I just didn’t know I was going to score so many.

“The tries were about being explosive once I got through, that second once I got through the gap I knew I just had to run and running toward the try line is something that brings me a lot of joy.”

Meanwhile, the Litchfield Bears had a field day of their own beating the grand finalists of the past four years, Northern Sharks, 78-0.

Jye Burgess was the first to score in an avalanche of 14 tries for the home side as the forwards dominated proceedings.

Debutant Eligh Pomroy crossed for a brace, as did Archie Hall, while Jake Flanagan and Josh Burgess wee continual strong contributors for the side.

Palmerston fought out the tightest win of the round beating Nightcliff 28-16 in the only match featuring two top four sides.

The Raiders had six different try scorers including Jarrad Lane to continue his strong season on the attack.

That was the most competitive fixture in the women’s competition as well with Palmerston coming out the 24-10 winners against the Dragons.

The Sharks beat Litchfield 40-0 with two huge tries from Jaymee Park to add to her growing highlight reel for the season.
