Belgravia Leisure pool manager Rayanne Hutchins said while dogs would need to be on a lead when out of the pool, they were able to swim freely.
“We put a few extra lifeguards on and it’s all a bit of crazy fun,” Ms Hutchins said.
“Some love it and some are more hesitant.”
“It started a couple of years back when a patron had come back from the UK and he’d been to a pool there that had a dog hour,” Ms Hutchins said.
“The pool manager at the time decided it would be a great idea for Belgrave.”
She said every dog day was held at the end of the season and those who attended were encouraged to give a gold coin donation on entry.
“The community loves it and they spread the word and people come from far and wide,” Ms Hutchins said.

“Healesville Sanctuary are looking after the koalas injured in the fires, so the money will go to helping care for those animals,” Ms Hutchins said.
