Ocean 12, R Bar, Ging Thai are new at Crown Melbourne
There’s a bar with more than 400 types of whiskey. Another with minigolf. Six venues have opened at Crown in the past three months, including a karaoke nightclub from the group behind a CBD dumpling mecca.

There’s always something new opening in Melbourne’s CBD — and at Crown Melbourne, there’s no exception.
Since June, six new places to eat, drink and play have opened in the Southbank entertainment complex.
If you’re after a quick nip, a Thai-inspired dinner or keen for karaoke, here are six new places to visit.
Level 3, Crown Melbourne
Crown Melbourne’s new nightspot Ocean 12 opened last Thursday, replacing the old Studio 3.
The bar boasts more than 400 whiskeys (including drops exclusive to Australia), a Cuban Cigar lounge and more than 30 private karaoke rooms.
Karaoke lovers can choose from the 140,000 song library, available in six languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Khmer.
The Golden Age Group’s latest venue, also behind Hu Tong Dumpling Bar, Mantong Kitchen and China Red, also has a bartender service and private cigar terrace.
Chef Alan Liu is behind Spanish and Asian tapas and larger plates menu, available only in the karaoke rooms.
Ocean 12 is open daily, 6pm-5am.
Lobby, Crown Towers
Crown Melbourne opened ritzy new R Bar last month, that has a strong focus on barrel-aged cocktails, spirits and martinis.
The Rockpool Group bar replaces the former Waiting Room at Crown Melbourne’s lobby.
Bar Manager Jamie Gibbs will age pre-made cocktails in oak barrels to create a new flavours.
The concept isn’t new, but Jamie’s project will be one of the largest of its kind in the country.
Pre-loved, 20-litre barrels used to age bourbon, sherry and port have been sourced for the process.
Riverside, Crown Melbourne
Crown Melbourne’s new restaurant Ging Thai opened last month, moving into Long Chim’s riverside digs.
Head Chef On Saengyojanr prepares Thai inspired dishes, after years of perfecting the cuisine in Bangkok, Bangladesh and, most recently, leading Long Chim’s kitchen for the last two years.
The menu plays with South East Asian flavours and adds a Thai and Malay twist.
Think red duck curry, som tum papaya salad and larb.
Shop 121, Level 1, Clarke St Building
The minigolf course opened at Crown in June, and has already attracted a following.
There’s two courses and 18 themed holes.
Eat American-style burgers, mac and cheese bites and pizza, and replenish your thirst with cocktails at the ‘poolside’ Caddyshack.
Prices start at $16pp for nine holes.
Level 1 Metropol Precinct, Crown Melbourne
Belt out a banger inside one of the 10 themed karaoke rooms at Juke’s in Crown Melbourne.
There’s three room sizes available, catering for small, medium and large groups.
The venue opened this June, offering drinks and food to fuel your next tune.
Cost is $30pp Thursday to Saturday after 5pm.

Escape rooms are all the rage, and Crown Melbourne’s new venue has three scenarios to play out. Get into the zone with a 30 minute warm up before spending 50 minutes trying to ‘escape’ your chosen room.
Prices start at $59 per person for two people.
