Mikaela Testa has issued a public plea with her millions of fans after being hospitalised for following an extreme diet she found on Reddit.

A popular adult content creator was rushed to the hospital with “a nasty case of appendicitis” after attempting what she described as a “water fast from Reddit”.
Mikaela Testa, who has 2.4 million followers on TikTok and a further million on Instagram, shared her recent health struggle with fans, warning them against drastic fasting.
Water fasting has been widely slammed by experts, with many describing it as “basically starving yourself”, stressing it comes with huge health risks and dangerous side effects.
Testa has now echoed this warning, with the 24-year-old revealing she was hospitalised after suffering complications from the extreme diet.
“The nurse just told me I can’t actually eat anything at all and before I came I had already fasted for 24 hours,” she explained in her Instagram story.
“Think of this next time you want to attempt a water fast from Reddit.
“I’m starving and all I want is some chicken tendies.”
The influencer, who earns a living selling explicit content on a popular adult subscription site, included a picture of herself sitting in a hospital bed holding a white cup with an unknown yellow liquid in it.
“My 0 calories dinner,” she added alongside the image.
Another picture showed Testa with an intravenous drip in her arm.
It’s not the first time Testa has opened up about her health, revealing last year she “lied to fans for an entire year” about undergoing a Brazilian butt lift (BBL).
The procedure is billed as “the most dangerous in the world” due to the fact one in 3000 operations performed result in death.
Testa admitted she had “two rounds” of the controversial cosmetic surgery as well as a “fat transfer to the hips” while appearing on the White Fox After Hours podcast to promote her collection with the fashion brand.
When her comments garnered huge criticism, with many claiming she “blatantly denied” having the surgery in the past, Testa addressed the backlash in a follow up video.
“For an entire year, I told all of my followers I lied about having a BBL, I’d tell all of my followers I’d had no plastic surgery when in reality I was just lying,” she shared.
“It is one of the most disgusting things I’ve done in my entire life, and I spend every single day regretting and trying to reverse the damage that I’ve done, just to myself, but all the young girls follow me as well.”
Testa said the “negative comments” made about her appearance on White Fox After Hours were justified, but she wanted to explain why she hid the truth for so long.
“Girls have insecurities. It’s pretty common for a girl to be insecure about herself when she sees constant perfection online,” she said.
Testa decided to “keep it a secret” for fear of being judged, explaining her “young age” and “toxic thoughts” played a major part in the decision.
“That is my reasoning for lying,” she explained.
“I felt embarrassed. Not only was I insecure, but I was also insecure about the fact I was getting surgery to fix it.”
The social media star has also garnered attention for complaining about her Euro summer in the past, after she told followers she was “dying to go home” from her lavish getaway.
“It is not all it’s cracked up to be,” she said from Capri, Italy.
“Influencers come to these locations and make them look so amazing and so pretty and so photogenic and so amazing, but half of it’s edited and filtered and just not real.
“It takes the entire day to walk to a location you want to go.”
Testa said she had hardly seen anyone mentioning the negatives of travelling Europe.
“It’s been three months. We’re just dying to go home at this point,” she continued.
“We’re just hating. We’re being negative. You just get to a point in life where you just start to hate everything around you, and you just need something stable like my own bed and my own TV and my cats.”
It hasn’t stopped her from heading to Europe again this year, with recent bikini-clad snaps showing Testa visiting Greece, Monaco and Turkey.
