CADBURY had made dreams come true across Australia with the return of their ‘Caramilk’ bar, which hasn’t been available in more than 20 years.
The popular combination of white chocolate and chewy caramel goodness was introduced to the land down under in 1990, before being discontinued four years later.
But now the chocolate brand has been dealt a massive blow with a national recall.
In a statement issued today, Cadbury have recalled the limited edition Caramilk chocolate.
“The recalled product has been available for sale in Australia only,” Cadbury posted on Facebook.
“A limited number of Cadbury Caramilk products have been found to contain small, flexible pieces of food grade plastic as a result of a machinery fault during the manufacturing process.
“Cadbury Caramilk products containing plastic may cause minor injury if consumed. Our analysis of the samples received to date has determined that this product dose not appear to pose a serious health or food safety risk, but a recall has been initiated to prevent the risk of minor injury.
“Consumers should not consume the affected product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund - no proof of purchase required.”
The chocolate bar was a massive hit in New Zealand recently, with Caramilk completely selling out within three weeks.

It’s been distributed in Australia at Woolworths and Coles, at a maximum cost of $5, but is scarce in supply as chocoholics have been cleaning them out for the past week.
Some people were even selling the bars online, using websites including Facebook, Gumtree and eBay, to capitalise on its short supply and make a decent profit.

A far-north Queenslander reportedly advertised a block of Caramilk on social media for $100, or one square of the golden block for $10, including postage.
Another seller from Melbourne was selling seven blocks for $150 on eBay.
