A pub, fast-food giant and Australia’s best croissants will be race-ready for this week’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

1) LUNE’S TRADITIONAL CROISSANT: $8.20

Formula One engineer turned Melbourne pastry queen Kate Reid is responsible for inventing some of the best croissants in the city, heck, the country. Now in an event-first, she’s baking her buttery beauties trackside at the Australian Grand Prix. Plain, pain au chocolate, almond, ham and gruyere, lemon cruffins and kouign amann could be yours for the taking.

2) ALLEGRIA’S CAMPANELLA BEEF SHORT RIB RAGU: $22

Lockdown faves Pasta Poetry is sharing the linguine love with this carbalicious line up. Load up on lasagne (layered with ragu bolognese), eggplant ragu, or the marvellously meaty campanella beef short rib ragu.

3) WONDERPIE’S CROISSANT SOFT SERVE: $13

What’s better than a circuit-side croissant? One swirling with cloudlike soft serve and syrup of your choosing. Wonderpies is sweetening your pastry experience with either vanilla or choc-vanilla soft serve. Toppings include caramel, chocolate or strawberry. Pies and fries are also available, including the signature beef and gravy and cult-fave lasagne pie. Soft serve only available at the Wonder Pies and Fries stall.

4) SHIVA INDIAN’S BUTTER CHICKEN AND HOT CHIPS: $18

Arun Chauhan’s northern Indian mainstay (ahem, 36-years in Hawksburn) is sharing one of its most popular curries: the butter chicken. Expect tender hunks roughened up in the tandoor oven then tumbled through a rich tomato, honey, butter and cream sauce. Add chippies for ultimate pleasure.

5) LITTLE HAVANA’S CUBAN SANDWICH: $16.50

Atlas Dining chef Charlie Carrington’s Cuban sangers make the perfect portable snack. The traditional street sandwich jams smoked pork, ham, mustard, pickles and swiss cheese between Cuban bread; a local riff on a white baguette.

6) DANIEL’S DONUT’S BATMAN DOUGHNUT: $6

Nanananana — Batman’s at the F1 as a doughnut. Kids can score a taste of Daniel’s Donuts superhero snack, made with its signature soft bun, coated in chocolate icing and dark chocolate chips and filled with a luscious choc-hazelnut cream.

7) FROZEN WATERMELON MARGARITA AT THE ESPY: $15

How do you make an event more Melbourne? Whack iconic St Kilda pub The Espy at the track. The pub without food will have plenty of drinks at the ready (sadly no tap-beer) such as quenching frozen watermelon or coconut margaritas and Aperol spritzes.

8) YAMAS LAMB SOUVLAKI: $18

400 Gradi’s side hustle Yamas will be slicing tender meat tresses fresh from the spit. Go full Greek with lamb, lettuce, tomato, onion and tangy tzatziki wrapped snug in warm pita. Make it a meal with the souva and chips combo for $26.

9) MEDIUM FRIES AT MC DONALDS FRY THRU: $3.95

Yes you read that right. Maccas is returning to the Aus GP, but not as you know it. The fast food giant is selling its famed fries through a unique ‘fry-thru’. Add a side of nuggets for the authentic drive-thru experience.

10) MR MIYAGI’S PITSTOP PRAWN ROLL: $19.50

Prahran party starter Mr Miyagi is in pole position with its pit stop prawn roll. The exclusively designed sanger jams fat and crisp tempura prawns, lettuce, coriander and honey sesame soy mayo in a cushy white roll.
