Appearing on Kidspot's podcast, Mum Club, the Aussie actress with the most recognisable voice on TV right now, shared how recording the episode played out a little differently from other episodes.

"It was a bit different for me, it was still broken up into four episodes," she shared, confirming that each recording was split into four small episodes and later pieced together.

"I got the first two and recorded those separately to the second two. I had a bit of a cliffhanger.

"So I had some of the experience that the audience is going to have going, 'Oh, what's happening? Where's this gonna go?' Like, you've never had that when you record an episode. They're so self-contained. So that was really different and exciting and fun."

Not only was the cast sent on the same roller-coaster ride that fans will soon discover, it appeared as though some of the writers didn't even know what was ahead of them as the cast began recording.

"I don't even know if the last part was written yet. So we got it as it was being formed," Melanie adds.

So what is Bluey's 'The Sign' about?

With all the wild fan theories floating around - including one that Chilli is indeed pregnant! - Melanie remains tight-lipped on the special episode.

"I think by now I can tell you that there is a wedding!" she teases.

"There's a number of storylines that are intersecting and when you only have seven minutes, it's usually an episode that is focused on a theme or a character. Multiple characters in this get an arc, which is really exciting. And it's very full.

"We have we have a lot of players in this though. Also, I think there's only so much nuance you can have in seven minutes. And I feel like the depth that Joe (creator Joe Brumm) was able to go to with certain themes is really exciting. So that's what I'm most excited for everyone to see."

Are extended Bluey episodes here to stay?

Of course, it's not just the chatter about what the future holds for Bluey and her Heeler family after this extended episode that is getting airtime on the internet.

Many fans are also begging for longer episodes to be the norm for their favourite animation. That, along with a fourth season, is something Melanie says she is definitely on board with.

"Oh, look, I will voice whatever length episode that they want in the Bluey universe forever! I love the idea of having a longer episode, just like I said, How much more can be explored? And yeah, I'd love it to come back again, have another 20 minutes," she says.

And as for another season?

"I'm here for it. Oh, yeah. I have no say over these things but I will be Chilli for as long as they will have me because I just adore playing this role."
