A potentially deadly virus cluster has emerged at another Wyndham abattoir, with at least 13 infections linked to the Laverton North business.

Employees at Diamond Valley Pork have been forced into isolation after testing positive to COVID-19.

The pork wholesaler joins a long list of trouble plagued meat processing sites across the state where hundreds of employees have contracted the virus.

New DHHS figures released on Friday revealed 627 coronavirus cases were detected in Victoria in the past 24 hours.

Wyndham, with 671 active cases, remains the state’s virus epicentre.

Al-Taqwa College in Truganina has been linked to 184 virus cases, while 58 cases have been traced to the Glendale Aged Care home in Werribee.

Premier Daniel Andrews flagged further restrictions could be possible on Thursday amid concerns virus numbers were not stabilising.

On Thursday the state recorded it’s highest ever daily increase in cases, with 723 new infections recorded.

It was also announced masks would be mandatory in regional Victoria as well as metropolitan Melbourne from 11.59pm on Sunday.

Six council regions; Greater Geelong, Colac-Otway Shire, Surf Coast Shire, Golden Plains Shire, Moorabool Shire and the Borough of Queenscliffe, have been banned from allowing visitors in their homes.

Failure to wear a mask outdoors could lead to police imposing a $200 fine.

A total of 10,577 coronavirus cases have been detected in Victoria and 113 people have died.

Hospitals are caring for 349 virus cases, while 36 people are in intensive care.
