Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted while on a bus in Melbourne’s west.

Police are appealing for public assistance after a teen girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on a bus in Melbourne’s west.

According to a Victoria Police spokesman, the alleged offender boarded the 703 Seaholm bus from Altona Gate Shopping Centre shortly after 5.30pm on April 6.

Sometime between 5.30pm and 6pm he allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl who was also riding the bus.

“The victim and offender both exited the bus at Sunshine Railway Station where the offender continued to try and engage with the victim,” the spokesman said.

A complaint was filed with police who began an investigation into the incident.

On Friday, investigators released CCTV images of a man wanted for questioning over the alleged incident, saying he “may be able to assist with enquiries”.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers,” the spokesman said.
