A man has been remanded in custody after allegedly firing shots at a vehicle in Melton South.

A man accused of firing shots at a vehicle on a public street in Melton South has been remanded in custody.

John Meyer, 37, appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday for a filing hearing.

The court heard he was arrested and charged on March 2 following a five-day investigation by detectives from the Melton crime investigation unit.

It’s alleged Mr Meyer fired a handgun at an occupied vehicle on Kurrajong Cres in Melton South on February 25, placing members of the public and occupants of the vehicle in danger.

He has yet to enter pleas on eight charges including recklessly discharging a firearm, using a firearm in a public place, recklessly engaging in conduct which placed a person at risk of serious injury, prohibited person possess firearm and methamphetamine possession.

According to court documents, he is not alleged to have caused any injuries.

In court, Mr Meyer did not apply for bail and was remanded into custody ahead of his next appearance on July 8.

His lawyer, Sarah Wiltshare requested police include digital copies of CCTV and body-worn camera footage be provided to defence.
