Police have identified the teen driver who was killed in a fiery crash in Melbourne’s west early Monday morning.

A teenager left fighting for his life after a fiery crash in Melbourne’s west has died from his injuries.

Emergency services were rushed to the scene on Tarneit Rd near Ankuri Rd in Tarneit about 2am on Monday after reports a black sedan had burst into flames after crashing.

The driver, a 19-year-old Tarneit man, was pulled from the wreckage and rushed to The Alfred hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday morning, Victoria Police announced he had since died from his injuries.

A spokesman said it was unclear at this stage what had caused the single vehicle crash but police are investigating.

He said police were working to understand the circumstances surrounding the crash, urging anyone who witnesses a black sedan in the area to contact Crime Stoppers.

“Anyone who witnessed the sedan travelling in the lead up to the incident should come forward,” he said.
