A woman accused of causing a “catastrophic” head injury to her husband when the man allegedly fell from her car during an argument in Melbourne’s west will go to trial.

Tara McConchie, 36, faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday, pleading not guilty to negligently causing serious injury and dangerous driving causing serious injury.

She is also facing four additional summary charges, but was not required to plead to them.

It’s alleged her husband Damien Osbourne, 37, had tried to stop Ms Conchie as she attempted to leave a party in Point Cook about 2.30pm on March 7 last year.

At the time, Detective Sergeant Mark Amos said Mr Osborne was in the “battle of his life”.

“He’s got a catastrophic head injury and he’s really in deep, deep trouble,” he said.

He was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and later recovered from his injuries.

In court, defence lawyer Greg Thomas said the matter was ready to proceed to the County Court for trial, a hearing he expected would take five to seven days.

The Eumemmerring woman will next appear in the County Court for a directions hearing on March 4 where the matter is expected to be set down for a trial.

Her bail was extended by Magistrate Amanda Bolger with conditions that prevent her from driving a vehicle, drinking alcohol, and leaving the house between 9pm and 6am unless in the company of her father.
