Police say three men are assisting with their investigation after they were arrested following a string of robberies in Melbourne’s west on Wednesday night.
The trio allegedly approached a cyclist on Ballarat Rd in Sunshine North, pushing him to the ground at about 10.45pm.
The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was not injured in the exchange which saw the trio allegedly search him for valuables, according to a Victoria Police spokesman.
“It’s believed the males then rifled through the victim’s clothing and pockets searching for valuables, however they fled empty handed,” he said.
The trio then allegedly forced their way into a house on Lynch St in Sunshine a short time later, before they were confronted by the occupant.
They allegedly fled the home with several stolen items, including a mobile phone.
“Fortunately, the residents weren’t physically injured,” the spokesman said.
Police say the trio, aged 21, 18 and 16, were arrested without incident just two streets away on George St by officers patrolling the area.
They have not been charged and are assisting with enquiries.
