Police have released CCTV footage of a man wanted for questioning after a cyclist and his dog were struck by a stolen car in a hit-and-run.
The vehicle was stolen in a carjacking about 5.40pm on November 14 at a Dawson St carpark in Sunshine while the owner was resting in the rear seat.
Police say an unknown man used a knife to threaten the owner, demanding he get out of the vehicle – a 2012 Nissan Tiida.
The offender then stole petrol and energy drinks from petrol stations in Sunshine North and Seaholme before the crash.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the car was also involved in a hit-and-run on Kingsclere Avenue at Keysborough about 10.30pm.
“The male cyclist sustained a broken ankle, the dog was not injured but the stolen vehicle did not stop at the scene,” she said.
The vehicle was found dumped on Frawley Drive in Hallam the following day with “major damage” after it crashed into a tree on a nature strip on Oak St in Doveton.
The spokeswoman said Brimbank detectives were looking to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV above as he may be able to assist with the investigation.
