One person has been killed after a truck and car slammed in the western suburbs.
Melton Highway Patrol officers are investigating a fatal collision in Harkness, 38km northwest of Melbourne.
Police believe a car and truck collided on Old Western Fwy about 7.45pm on Sunday.
The driver and only occupant of the car, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The truck driver, who escaped injuries, stopped at the scene and assisted police with inquiries.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the exact circumstances surrounding the collision were yet to be determined, and investigations were ongoing.
There have been 205 lives lost on Victorian roads this year, compared to 201 fatalities on the road this time last year.
