A group of teenage girls have been caught after they were accused of stealing cars and using a machete and a knife in separate alleged attempted armed robberies in Melbourne’s west.

Police arrested and charged the three girls, aged 15 and 16, on October 27 in the Werribee area following the alleged incidents between October 21 and October 26.

They are accused of entering two homes and stealing three cars, one in Truganina on October 21 and two in Werribee on October 26.

Later on October 21, the trio allegedly used credit cards from a wallet they allegedly stole from the Truganina home to make purchases at several service stations and fast food outlets in Hoppers Crossing.

The trio are also accused of walking up to people and threatening them with weapons to try and steal their phones.

They allegedly threatened a 28-year-old woman with a machete on October 22, and a 16-year-old boy with a knife in Hoppers Crossing on October 26.

All three girls have been charged with aggravated burglary and car theft, while the two 16-year-olds were also charged with bail offences.

One of the 16-year-olds was also charged with attempted armed robbery, while the other was charged with burglary and deception.

No one was injured in all four incidents, and the three teens were remanded to face a children’s court at a later date.
