Campbellfield: Suspicious fire rips through Thornycroft St cabinet factory

Firefighters have spent more than hour battling a fire which ripped through a cabinet factory in Melbourne’s north, which police are treating as suspicious.

A crime scene has been established at the site of a cabinet factory in Melbourne’s north after it was gutted in a suspicious fire overnight.

Almost 40 firefighters rushed to the factory in Thornycroft St in Campbellfield about 12.15am on October 26, near Foden Ave and following multiple calls to triple-0.

They spent more than an hour battling the blaze before bringing it under control about 1.30am and saving the factory from collapse.

No one was injured and Fire Rescue Victoria crews remained on the scene overnight to monitor for hot spots.

They eventually handed over the scene to police, who are treating the fire as suspicious.

The arson squad will attend the scene this morning for further investigations.
