One person is dead and three are in hospital — with two under police guard — after “erratic” driving allegedly caused a three-car collision.

One person has been killed and two people have been arrested after “erratic” driving allegedly caused a three-car collision in Diggers Rest on Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of a vehicle driving erratically shortly before the crash occurred on Bulla-Diggers Rest Rd about 3.30pm.

A male and female from the vehicle accused of erratic driving are in police custody at The Alfred, where they are believed to be in a stable condition.

A male driver, the sole occupant of one of the cars hit, died at the scene.

“Paramedics treated four people at the scene,” an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.

“Three patients have been taken to the Alfred Hospital and are believed to be in a stable condition.”

Police are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident with detectives on Tuesday night deployed at the scene between Duncans Ln and Moreland Ct.
