An elderly couple got the fright of their lives during their drive down the Calder Freeway after their ute towing a caravan caught fire.
Emergency services attended the scene about 10.45am on Tuesday cordoned off the Keilor Rd off-ramp on the Calder Freeway. Firefighters attended the scene and helped extinguished the blaze.
Cars were diverted to the Milleara Rd off-ramp down the freeway as traffic banked up as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed paramedics were called to the incident shortly before 11am.
“Paramedics assessed one person on scene and no emergency treatment or transport was required,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.
The ute was towed off the ramp with visible damage to the vehicle and caravan from the fire.
