Youth Premier League’s top performers for 2022 tournament

Victoria’s brightest young cricketers put on a show in the under-16 Youth Premier League which concluded last month. Here are the top performers.

Some of Victoria’s most promising young cricketers put on a show during the Youth Premier League which concluded last month.

Central Highlands eventually walked away as tournament winners after prevailing against the Metro South East Bayside representative team in the decider.

Here are the top performers from the tournament.

Sam Allen, West Country

Allen proved he has plenty of talent with the bat and ball after putting together a strong performance. He scored an impressive 37 against the Falcons. His 5-6 were the best figures of any player.

Benjamin Allsop, Gippsland

The Gippsland product produced a fantastic performance which was highlighted by nine wickets in his first three outings. Allsop eventually finished with 12 wickets at an average of 12.6.

Zane Attard, Central Highlands

Attard was comfortably the competition’s wicket taker with 21 wickets at 7.1 taking multiple wickets every game except for one. His best figures were 4-16. Also proved to be more than handy with the bat scoring 138 runs at 27.6.

Jack Czosnek, Metro South East Bayside

The only player to record an century in the under-16 competition after a stunning 121-run performance in the opening round back in November. Czosnek then followed it up with a half-century in the following game. Also proved his worth in the field with two run-outs.

Archie Flynn, Metro Outer East

Flynn was the fourth highest run scorer in the competition with 252 runs at 42 including an unbeaten 95 in the opening game.

Lachlan Hay, Central Highlands

Hay produced a solid tournament with the bat and ball finishing with 241 runs at 48.2 while taking eight wickets at 19.

Jackson Hopper, Metro West

After going wicketless in his first two games, Hopper soon found form to claim 10 wickets at an average of 13.6. He also showed a safe pair of hands in the field with three catches.

Gus Kennedy, South East Country

Kennedy was his side’s leading run scorer with 193 runs at 3.2 and later in the tournament he found himself among the wickets with six.

Monty Maloney, Mallee Murray

A consistent contributor with bat and ball, Maloney scored 199 runs at 33.2 while taking four wickets.

Aayan Nadeem, Metro West

Nadeem showed plenty of composure with the bat to score 219 runs, including two half-centuries, at 31 in an encouraging tournament for his side. Also proved his worth with the ball taking five wickets.

Hamish Pearce, Metro North West

Caused plenty of problems with the bat and ball throughout the tournament. With the bat, Pearce scored 181 runs showing off his ability at different batting positions. He finished with six wickets.

Cooper Rojko, Metro South East Bayside

Desperately unlucky not to have scored a century after scoring 99 in the second game of the tournament. Rojko went onto score 258 runs at 36.8 and also showed off his bowling ability in the second last game with 2-8.

Aryan Sharma, Metro North

Finished as the competition’s leading run scorer with 330 runs at an average of 66. Also proved to be more than handy with the ball taking nine wickets at 11.2

Alex Turner, Metro South East Bayside

Made one half-century throughout the competition but consistently got starts with six scores above 30. Turner went onto score 131 runs at 39.1 and also took seven wickets.

Charlie Wood, Metro South East Bayside

Wood was his side’s main strike weapon during an impressive tournament as he finished with 14 wickets at an average of 12.86.
