1. JAMES SEYMOUR (Essendon)

The Essendon skipper returned to his hometown, Bendigo, and duly delivered. An unbeaten century and a match-winning six off the second last ball of the match to claim a critical four points against Richmond. Seymour finished with 119 not out from 159 balls, with 11 boundaries and four sixes. A measure of his class, no Essendon teammate scored more than 18.

2. ASHLEY CHANDRASINGHE (Casey-South Melbourne)

The stylish left-hander started the season with a Shield century on debut for Victoria. That same poise and patience were on display on Saturday as he peeled off a measured 91 not out off 142 balls to steer the Swans to victory over Frankston Peninsula. It was Chandrasinghe’s third half-century for the Swans this season.

3. HARRISON SMYTH (Carlton)

The run-machine scored his sixth century, a brilliant 110 not out, to guide the ladder-leading Blues to a rousing win over Northcote. Walking to the wicket at 1-33, Smyth’s 131-ball stay included five fours and three sixes – and helped the Blues pass the 240 target with 10 balls to spare. The 28-year-old already has 476 runs this season.

4. DAMON EGAN (Prahran)

Egan’s golden summer rolled on with a splendid 92 off 117 balls to help the True Blues chase down Dandenong’s 256. Egan is up to 386 runs, at 48.3, this season and continues to enhance his reputation as one of the most consistent batters in Premier.

5. DEAN RUSS (Footscray)

The reigning Ryder Medallist walked to the crease on the back of Dylan Brasher’s 77-ball 50 and continued to pummel the Kingston-Hawthorn attack. At the end of 50 overs Russ was unbeaten on 89 from 88 balls with six boundaries and a pair of sixes to his name as the Bulldogs piled on 7-244. Took a critical catch to dismiss Joel Lewis (45 off 38) who had been threatening to steal the game for the Hawks.

6. NOAH CROES (Melbourne University) (WK)

Put together a brilliant innings which saw him hit the ball to all parts of the ground against Camberwell. The wicketkeeper-batsman finished with 47 runs from 59 balls. Also finished with two catches behind the stumps.

7. MITCH PERRY (Richmond)

It might not have been his side’s day against Essendon in Bendigo but Perry still put together an outstanding all-round performance. He top scored with 46 runs from 76 balls before leading the way with the ball taking 3-35.

8. AARON CRISPE (Northcote)

The Northcote tail-ender walked to the crease at 6-111 with his team on the brink and combined with Jaga Koduru in an impressive 87-run stand that ensured the Dragons had a defendable total. Crispe finished on 66 from 71 deliveries, hitting four boundaries and a six. He snared the wicket of Jai Lemire as Carlton slumped to 3-73 before Smyth and Nick Ross turned the match, finishing with credible figures of 1-37 from nine overs.

9. DOM MCGLINCHEY (Geelong)

The all-rounder cracked 44 not out off 55 balls at No.8 and took 3-45 off 10 overs to play a starring role in the Cats’ gripping four-run win over St Kilda. Crucially, he dismissed key Saints Adam Crosthwaite and Tom Russ in the same over as the visitors slumped to 5-192.

11. SEAN McNICHOLL (Greenvale Kangaroos)

Melbourne were on fire at the Albert Oval, racing to 0-100, before Haseeb Qureshi made the breakthrough dismissing Blake Thomson. McNicholl then ripped through the Demons’ top order, knocking over Zane Keighran, Campbell Kellaway and Jack Harper in quick succession to reduce the home team to 4-124. The paceman returned to pick up the key wickets of Fergus O’Neill and Jack Prestwidge to secure the only Premier First XI five-wicket haul of the weekend and his first since 2020.
