Women’s National Basketball League: Melbourne Boomers hold annual ‘Wear your colours’ night
The Melbourne Boomers will turn the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South into a sea of club colours on Thursday night and Opals legend Lauren Jackson is urging fans to get behind the night.

The Melbourne Boomers will turn the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South into a sea of club colours on Thursday night when they clash with the Sydney Flames in the club’s annual ‘Wear Your Colours’ night.
Junior players from across Melbourne are encouraged to wear their own junior club colours to the Women’s National Basketball League game to receive free entry.

Boomers assistant-general manager Lauren Jackson, the connection between juniors and elite players brings back memories of her young years in the sport she loves.
“Looking back over my career, I have felt pride wearing my colours, the green and gold of the Australian Opals, also the green and gold of my Seattle Storm,” she said.
“But, there were other teams, more so from my junior years that I felt incredible pride representing around town, at the grocery store, to school, to athletics carnivals — the white and blue of my junior club team in Albury ‘LSC’.
“If only I had a WNBL game to wear that jersey to.
“We want all basketball juniors to wear their colours on Thursday night, to support their club and come out to the big game and support Melbourne’s WNBL team as loudly as possible.”
“If you come wearing your colours you will get free entry into the game, and as always you will get to interact and spend some time post-game with your favourite players.
“You’ll see world class basketball, some of our very own Opals and a few WNBA stars battling it out, following their dreams and playing professional basketball, a dream and a goal that every young aspiring basketballer would have.”
