Bayswater will push for maximum points against Croydon on Saturday after an emphatic day one at Croydon Park.
Former Queensland quick Matthew Gale grabbed three top-order wickets before blasting 81 with the bat as Baysie captured first-innings points on the opening day.

Gale’s 3-25 off six overs helped bowl Croydon out for 103 before Bayswater reached 6-227 by stumps.
He had Aaron Fenton and Jamil Hassan removed for ducks and Cockies captain Steve Wright dismissed for 5 as the home side fell to 3-27.
Nick Howes’ 49 was the only positive on a bleak day for Croydon, falling one run short of a maiden half-century in his sixth First XI game.
Gale and Ben Osborne (71) both hit half-centuries as Bayswater went at nearly a run-a-ball.
Wright said he expected Bayswater to declare ahead of play on Saturday in an attempt at an outright victory.
“We knew it was going to be a bit tough early with their gun bowlers but we thought if we got through it we’d be OK, but it didn’t turn out that way,” Wright said.
“We’ve just got to bat better, I’m pretty sure they’ll send us in straight away so if we can bat 60 overs we’ll bat them out of an outright, which would be nice.”
Wright said Howes’ knock was the only positive.
“Other than that, it was a pretty bad day to be honest,” he said.
“He just took it up to their good bowlers so was really impressed with him. He just dug in, has a crack. A few of the other guys went out there and tried to play a few shots but he showed us how to do it.”
