The MPCA has decided not to reschedule last Saturday’s missed round — and will instead treat it as a “wash out round’’ and award six points to each team.

The decision will disappoint some teams needing to win its last three games to play finals.

Two rounds, plus finals, remain in the 2020-21 season, which has now been twice affected by COVID-19 lockdowns, with a late start and a missed round.

The MPCA doesn’t want to see a repeat of last season, when senior grand finals were cancelled as the pandemic took hold.

“The decisions have taken into account the potential for further disruption to take place due to COVID-19 outbreaks and potential circuit breaker lockdowns or worse, which may ultimately affect the finals being played again for the second time,’’ the MPCA said.

“It was felt that it was important to try to protect the finals series as much as we could by getting the home and away season fixture as it stands under way and also in some ways over as quickly as possible.’’

Providing lockdown ends on Thursday, the MPCA plans to resume the season on Saturday.

It has rescheduled the Jack Peacock Cup grand finals to this Sunday (they were meant to be held last Sunday).
