It will be a blockbuster “double double-header’’ when the MPCA Jack Peacock Cup Twenty20 grand finals are held at Baxter Park on Sunday.

Four Cup deciders will be played on two ovals, commencing at 10.30am and going all day.

Usually a knockout tournament played between all clubs, this season’s Peacock Cup was shortened because of the late start to the season and condensed into a division-based competition consisting of three preliminary games.

Langwarrin will meet Sorrento in the Provincial decider on Greg Beck Oval, at 2pm.

Langwarrin will be without captain Tom Hussey and Jayde Herrick (Herrick is getting married on Sunday).

They will also be missing young gun Kyle Parrott, who has Dowling Shield commitments.

It means Langwarrin may need a permit to bring in players who haven’t played in a prelminary game.

The game will also pit the two leading wicket takers in the Peacock Cup against each other: Matt Prosser (Langy) and Sorrento’s Leigh Janssen — both with six wickets.

Sorrento’s Corey Harris goes into the game as the comp’s leading run scorer, with 154 (at 77).

The Peninsula grand final will be fought out by Pines and Somerville on Wayne Landry Oval, at 2pm.

Pines have the comp’s leading run scorer in Damien Lawrence (178 runs, at 59.33), while Somerville will rely on the in-form and dynamic Brad McDonald (153 runs, at 153).

Rosebud will face Carrum in the District decider at Greg Beck Oval, at 10.30am. The Sharks will look to Kane Donald, who leads the comp’s run tally with 113 (44no and 69), to continue his cracking form in the short format, while Jake D’Atri and Sean Fisher have been in mint form for Carrum.

And Carrum Downs will meet Balnarring in the Sub District final, on Wayne Landry Oval, at 10.30am. Brad Lockhart has belted 126 runs (at 63) for the Cougars, and Shae Wilson and Jordan Watters have been excellent with the ball, while Balnarring’s Brenton Taylor tops the comp’s wicket takers with six scalps.

Grand finals, Sunday:

Provincial: Langwarrin v Sorrento, at2pm.

Peninsula: Pines v Somerville, at 2pm.

District: Rosebud v Carrum, at 10.30am.

Sub District: Carrum Downs v Balnarring, at 10.30am.
