There’s been some huge performances in local cricket by footballers of late, including Jack Ginnivan and Matthew Lloyd.
Now we can add Chad Harris to the list.
The Subiaco WAFL star smashed 173, the highest score in the Mornington Peninsula association on the weekend, in his comeback game with Sorrento’s fourths.
Opening the batting, Harris hit 15 fours and 11 sixes as the Sharks rushed to 3-356 off 40 overs against Red Hill.
He then nabbed 2-8 with the ball to complete a successful day.
Harris, after a couple of years in the west, will line up with Sorrento in the MPNFL this year.
Mackenzie Gardner raised his bat for a maiden First XI century for Seaford Tigers.
His top-class 112 included 5 fours and 3 sixes and steered the Tigers to 7-273.
Gardner and Luke Kranzbuhler (47) put on 97 for the third wicket as the Tigers’ innings got motoring.
Tootgarook’s Michael Giarrusso equaled his highest score when he crunched 140 in the seconds against Boneo.
His 211-ball stay included 14 fours and 2 sixes, and helped the Frogs put up 6-312.

He hit 14 fours and 1 six to escort the Piners to 7-336 after going in at 2-150.
Peace-Stirling shared a 95-run third wicket partnership with his younger brother Jack Peace-Stirling, who made 80, his highest First XI score.
Pines openers Declan Jackson (54) and Nick Christides (33) set things up.
It was a magical day for Mt Eliza seamer Harry Chapman, who took 9-34 off 19.4 overs to skittle Flinders for 61 in the seconds.
He grabbed the first four wickets before Jack Vaughan struck, and then he nabbed the remaining five scalps in quick succession.
Chapman’s previous best figures were 6-34.
There was also bowling brilliance from Mt Eliza’s Chris Davey and Frankston YCW’s Sam Fulton.
Davey snared 8-29 in C4 and Fulton took 8-56 in the seconds.
