MPCA batsman passes 1000 runs, eyes off all-time record

A Mornington Peninsula batsman has blasted past 1000 runs for the season. Here’s a look at the MPCA players having golden summers with the bat.

Dave Dervan has scored over 1100 runs for Skye this season.

He’s peeled off scores of 110, 119no, 128no, 247no and 173 – and there’s still at least four games to go.

David Dervan’s massive season for Skye’s fifths shows no signs of slowing, with the 44-year-old smashing through the 1000-run barrier on Saturday.

His latest knock, a blazing 173, lifted his season run tally to 1147, at 143.38.

With three games remaining, plus potentially two finals, Dervan could give the all-time MPCA season aggregate record, believed to be 1300, a nudge.

Last month, Dervan blitzed 247no to become the first player in Skye’s 74-year history to score a double century.
