After winning the premiership last season, Skye has been even more dominant this season.
The Chickaburras are undefeated in the South One Day comp in 2020-21, scoring nearly 500 runs more than their nearest rival.
They’ll meet Frankston in a semi-final on Sunday — seven days after thrashing them, 3-227 to 6-74.
Champion Kylie Walters has been a revelation in her first season at Skye and looms as the key to success in the finals.
The former Ringwood and Mt Martha run machine hammered 103 not out — her second century since Christmas — in Skye’s win on the weekend.
Walters has peeled off 461 runs, at 230.5, this season.
“I’m so jealous and grateful at the same time that she’s in my team,’’ laughed Skye skipper Stacey Dorbolo.
“It’s so good to watch. Even being out there with her, I love being at the other end watching her bat, she’s just great.
“She’s just smart, a smart cricketer.
“Coming from a higher grade down to our level...She’s really got to concentrate and work her way through to get runs.
“She does hit the ball hard but plays smart into the gaps.
“I’m so glad that she’s in our team.’’
Skye also boasts the talented former state junior representative Kiah Laughlin-Glen (261 runs at 87), who shared a double century partnership with Walters last weekend.
Dorbolo says the Chickaburras will go into the finals confident but prepared to work hard.
“The more fun we have the more things that happen in the game and the more we bond together,’’ she said.
“That’s how we’ve been winning this season. It’s a good fun, environment to be around.’’
Meanwhile, Mt Martha will play Officer in the other semi-final.
Katherine Laemmle (279 runs at 39.9 and 12 wickets) and Angela Dunn (314 at 44.9) have enjoyed stellar seasons for Mt Martha.
In the Shield One Day Competition, Frankston will chase premiership glory after finishing the regular season in second spot.
It meets Burwood in a semi-final.
Batting stars Allison Baker (285 at 57), Aimee Mellford (364 at 36), Julie Donahoe (227 at 56) and Cayla Emery (200 at 40) will be keys for Frankston in the finals.
