Spectators ducked for cover.

The club room’s windows were under constant threat.

And Baden Powell’s bowlers had nowhere to hide.

Baxter batsman Chris Brittain’s rampaging 107 off 63 balls in Round 2 of the Jack Peacock Cup on Tuesday night had to be seen to be believed.

He smashed 8 sixes and 7 fours as Baxter charged to 2-189 off 20 overs.

“There was no slogging, they were just proper cricket shots,” Baxter captain Sammy Mullavey said.

“Everything was out of the middle.”

Brittain and Dale Irving (57 off 50) went blow for blow in a dynamic 160-run opening partnership.

In reply, Baden Powell made 5-135.

But it was the Britts show, the champion wielding his new MRF bat with brute force.

“I think he hit the club rooms on the full about eight times and there were blokes ducking behind windows,” Mullavey said.

“He was hitting them a long way and they were all coming out of the middle.

“The way Britts bats I think he could pull a paling off a fence and make a fifty or a hundred with that.”

It was 41-year-old Brittain’s ninth century for Baxter in six seasons, to go with a double century in 2016-17.

In other Peacock Cup results, Sorrento’s Corey Harris (74no) and Bobby Wilson (32no) blasted the Sharks (1-129) to victory over Mornington.

Young Harry Wallace grabbed 2-5 in Old Peninsula’s win over Red Hill.

Riley Davie (29) and Matt Prosser (4-16) helped Langwarrin beat Mt Eliza.

Runs flowed at Main Ridge where Moorooduc skipper Ben Williams smashed 73 as the Ducs chased down 161.

Seaford Tigers skipper Brayden Roscoe (65no) and No.3 Jack Brooking (62no) blasted their side to 1-136 in a nine-wicket victory over Long Island.
