Soaring temperatures across Victoria have caused delays to the start of play for APS cricketers.

APS first XI cricketers and officials will have to wait for temperatures to drop below 36 degrees for play to take place on Friday afternoon amid hot weather conditions.

The Melbourne Olympic Park weather station recorded temperatures of 38.2 degrees on Friday at 2.10pm.

MyCricket shows the Round 7 clash between Haileybury and Scotch College had began at 1.25pm before play was stopped after the first four overs of the game where Scotch had taken 1-11.

All other four matches are yet to get underway.

The home delegate or their delegated representative will be responsible to monitor the BOM website to determine local temperatures.

A cool change is expected this afternoon where play is tipped to resume.

Each match has until the normal close of play to wait for temperatures to fall below 36 degrees which is when players will be able to take the field for play.
