Two men have been arrested after they rocked up to a St Kilda restaurant in an allegedly stolen car and allegedly nicked some beers from its fridge.

Port Phillip detectives responded to reports of the break-in at the restaurant on Marine Parade at 9.40pm on Wednesday.

They found the men, and the beers, in an allegedly stolen Ford sedan parked outside the restaurant.

One of the men inside the car, a 26-year-old man of no fixed address, was also allegedly in possession of drugs.

Police charged him with six burglary, theft and drug possession related offences, and he was bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 12.

The other man, a 36-year-old from Melbourne, was questioned by officers and later released pending further inquiries.
