Teen allegedly stabbed in back during fight at Hays Paddock Kew East

A shocking stabbing at a footy field in Kew East, also home to a popular children’s playground, may have been filmed after two groups of teenagers got in a wild fight.

A hunt is on for the alleged attackers in a fight at a football oval in Melbourne’s east, which led to a 14-year-old boy being stabbed in the back and hospitalised.

Boroondara detectives believe the fight, which could have been filmed, took place when two groups of teens met up on the oval at Hays Paddock in Kew East about 4.45pm on Monday.

Officers understand the two groups, who were decked out in black and grey Nike hoodies and face masks to cover their identities, were known to each other.

During the fight, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the back with a knife, while a 13-year-old boy was assaulted and had his shoes and bag stolen.

The 14-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while the 13-year-old sustained minor injuries.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were not called to assist with the incident.

Along with the incident reportedly being filmed, police believe a black ute was seen leaving the oval’s carpark on Leason St at the time of the fight.
