Thug who stomped on kid’s head at Mornington McDonald’s, kicked Frankston diner in face walks free

A teen who brutally bashed a boy at Mornington McDonald’s, and beat up a man in Frankston in a separate attack, has been spared more jail time, despite the “horrific violence”.

Mitchell Loader repeatedly kicked a Frankston food court diner in the face and stomped on a defenceless kid’s head at Mornington McDonald’s.

A teen thug who stomped on a young boy’s head at Mornington McDonald’s before stealing his sneakers has walked free from court.

In a separate incident Mitchell Loader also brazenly bashed another man in the food court of Bayside Shopping Centre in Frankston, repeatedly kicking the innocent stranger in his face.

He also stole a car, abused his mum and broke into a vehicle during the five-month drug-fuelled crime spree.

Loader, now 19, was sentenced at Frankston Magistrates’ Court this morning after previously pleading guilty to violent assault and theft charges.

The court heard on July 20 last year the then 18-year-old and some mates had gathered in Mornington to confront a group of young boys they’d had a verbal altercation with.

Loader’s 15-year-old pal tripped up the teenage victim in the McDonald’s car park and he fell to the ground.

Loader then stomped on the boy’s head four times and punched him once to the face.

He then stood over the semiconscious boy as he lay on the ground, calling him a “c***”, before stealing his Nike runners.

All of this was witnessed by horrified families and children in the nearby Macca's playground.

Loader then walked to the victim’s mates, who had been at a nearby bus stop, and stole sunglasses, a satchel and blue tooth speakers from one of them before running away.

The victim was later taken to hospital with severe concussion, and suffered headaches and memory loss.

Loader was tracked down by police through McDonald’s CCTV footage and video taken by one of his friends that she had uploaded onto social media.

Just three weeks earlier on June 27 Loader had been at the food court at the Bayside shopping Centre in Frankston when he launched a sustained and unprovoked attack on a diner.

He grabbed the man’s hair, pulled him to the ground and repeatedly kicked him in the face, leaving him with a laceration to his lip.

The Cranbourne East teen was arrested in August and remanded, serving 50 days in custody before release on supervised bail in October.

He told his psychiatrist that he liked taking drugs, specifically ecstasy and Xanax, because they “made him angry” and he “enjoyed this as it made him feel dangerous”.

Magistrate Vicky Prapas said Loader’s vicious, reckless assaults would have been “frightening experiences” committed in public spaces “exposing young children to horrific violence”.

“Wanton, unprovoked public violence is all too prevalent in the community.”

But she also said he had served 50 days on remand, and had done well on youth justice bail.

“You are a youthful offender, have already served a period of time in adult prison and it is of benefit to the community that you continue your rehabilitation,” she said.

Loader was sentenced to 50 days in jail – time he has already served – and given an 18-month community corrections order.

He must do 150 hours of unpaid work and attend drug and mental health counselling, and his driving licence was disqualified for 12 months.
