A suspended motorist took on a second job as a food delivery driver so he could pay off $80k debt. But the law caught up with him.
The man was caught driving without a valid licence, delivering food for the online app Uber Eats, but shouldn’t have been on the road, as he had lost his licence by accruing too many demerit points.

Michael Gosios pleaded guilty to driving while suspended at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court hard the 47-year-old fireplace sales technician was nabbed in Noble Park at around 1.30pm on August 12.
He admitted to police that he knew he had been suspended, but needed to drive for his Uber Eats job because he had $80,000 in credit card and bank loans debts.
He had lost his licence for six months on July 6.
In court his defence lawyer said Gosios had made “an unfortunate decision” to drive that day because of the financial pressure due to his debts.
He said he now fully understood the ramifications of his actions, and had not driven since.
He said his car was locked up in a garage and he was getting to work by bus.
The court heard Gosios had now gotten his debts down to around $20,000 and didn’t need to drive for Uber Eats anymore.

Magistrate Sharon McRae said she was concerned he had been ignoring the ban for about five weeks.
“I can only assume you were driving during the whole of that suspension,” Ms McRae said.
“You were given a penalty, you didn’t follow it.
“(Suspensions) are not a choice, you must do them.”
She said because he was already suspended until early next year, a further ban wasn’t warranted.
She said he was doing well with his debt repayment and she wanted him to “move forward” with his life.
Gosios was fined $500 with no further licence suspension imposed. No conviction was recorded.
