From rivals to teammates … a long list of cricketers are switching clubs in the MPCA this summer.

Some of the association’s biggest names — including Justin Grant, Jayde Herrick, Lyle House and Ricky Ramsdale — are among clearance applications lodged.

A handful of players from other competitions have applied to join MPCA clubs, with Pearcedale gaining Shaun Donnelly (Koo Wee Rup), Josh Swainston (Mulgrave Wheelers Hill) and Luke Adams (Tooradin).

Other notable moves include Rye skipper Geoff Glaum returning to Rosebud, Sorrento paceman Chris King to Boneo and Somerville all-rounder Nick Marshall crossing to Pearcedale.

Former Victorian paceman Herrick’s move from Somerville to Langwarrin, to play with his mate Tom Hussey, is one of the most significant clearances.

MPCA president Stephen Morone emailed clubs last week saying the association was committed to playing a 2020-21 season amid the coronavirus crisis.

“We truly believe that some form of cricket can be played if we are all committed, flexible and adaptable,’’ he said.
