Mornington Peninsula cricket: 21 leading players of 2022-23 season

There’s been a stack of runs and plenty of poles taken in the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association this season. Here are the top 21 performers so far.

We’ve gone through all the First XI grades of the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association and rounded up the leading players at the halfway mark of the 2022-23 season.

Here are the cricketers who are cranking it up.

Rhys Elmi (Baden Powell)

The Braves super bat has been a model of consistency, peeling off 48, 45, 58 and 66no for a total of 252 runs. Plus, he’s taken seven wickets with the ball.

Sam Gove (Flinders)

The teenage star has scored two tons, 105no and 108, to confirm his status as the best young players in the competition.

Justin Grant (Old Peninsula)

Started the season with 92, cracked 55 in Round 6 and then underlined his champion qualities with a top-drawer 101 against Langwarrin to steer the Pirates to top spot. Also has taken 11 wickets which has proven he is never out of the game.

Luke Hewitt (Balnarring)

The gun all-rounder has been outstanding at his new club, cracking two half-centuries and taking wickets in every game.

Jarrod Hicks (Rosebud)

The tall spinner has bowled well, taking regular wickets — he has 15 for the season at 14.5. But he’s been a revelation with the bat, highlighted by a crisp 100 at the top of the order against Main Ridge.

Sam Holland-Burch (Tyabb)

Sensationally collected nine wickets for the match in Round 6 and has also consistently scored runs in the middle order. Has 15 scalps for the season.

Nathan Hunt (Rye)

The talented opener has hit more boundaries than anyone this season, getting the Demons off to a good start in every game.

Adeel Hussain (Heatherhill)

The quickie has taken wickets in every game, including bags of seven (including a hat-trick) and five. Also contributed vital runs down the list.

Dale Irving (Dromana)

The former Baxter champion has had a new lease of life at the Hoppers, taking wickets and churning out runs, including 106 against Seaford Tigers.

Dylan O’Malley (Old Peninsula)

The big-hitting opener has blazed three half centuries, including 97no and 82, and racked up 307 runs at an average of 43.86 to propel the Pirates to top spot.

Evin Parslow (Tootgarook)

There have been wickets and runs aplenty for the quality all-rounder, helping the Frogs to jump into finals contention.

Madu Perera (Moorooduc)

The stylish batter-keeper leads the Peninsula division run chart, helped largely by a sublime knock of 140no against Dromana.

Matt Prosser (Langwarrin)

The champion leg spinner leads the pack in Provincial grade with 19 wickets and could be on track to emulate, perhaps even better, his massive 41 wicket haul of 2020-21.

Chamika Sattambi (Baxter)

With two five-wicket hauls, the former first-class paceman is bowling as well as ever and is a constant threat to opposition batters.

Cameron Sharpe (Somerville)

The ex-Langwarrin all-rounder has made an impressive start at his new club with wickets and runs, including 4-36 against Mt Eliza and 88 from No. 7 against Mornington.

Daniel Streker (Delacombe Park)

With four three-wicket hauls and a couple of handy knocks with the bat, Streker has been a key to the Parkers unbeaten start.

Ben Walker (Delacombe Park)

The big-hitter has smacked a comp-high 12 sixes as well as a stack of fours, while taking wickets with the ball.

Flynn Walker (Delacombe Park)

The youngster has shown his star qualities by taking wickets in every game and blasting valuable runs in the middle order.

Thomas Walker (Mt Martha)

The English import is having a great time of it with bat and ball, leading the Subbies comp in wickets.

Jordan Watters (Carrum Downs)

Has been a revelation at the Cougars with two five-wicket hauls already. Leads the competition wickets chart.

Jake Wood (Sorrento)

The former Frankston Peninsula paceman has bowled well in every game, collecting 23 wickets to help the Sharks to a top-four spot at the halfway mark of the season.
